Supply/Logistics
Do you offer supply-only of boards?
No, Durasteel systems are offered as a designed, supplied, installed, certified and guaranteed complete system in order to ensure compliance with the fire test certification and a guarantee/certificate of conformity that the system will perform as required.
What is your lead time?
Typically 2-6 weeks, depending on the design of the system. This can be even less for standard designs and items held in stock.
Which countries do you work in?
We have installed Durasteel systems in more than 26 countries globally, including Europe, North America, the Middle East and South East Asia, and are happy to take on a project anywhere. Please contact your local Invicta office for more information.
Design
How much does Durasteel cost?
Every Durasteel system is designed and engineered based on a number of different factors, including the fire rating, blast rating, application, site conditions and access. Please send us an enquiry with your specific requirement details and we will be pleased to provide a proposal.
Can you create bespoke designs?
Yes, these will be backed-up with third-party approved structural calculations.
Can the system be painted?
Yes, Durasteel can be painted for either aesthetic reasons or to provide extended corrosion resistance/design life.
Installation
Can we install it ourselves?
No, Durasteel systems must be installed by our own trained and experienced installation engineers in order to ensure compliance with the fire test certification and a guarantee/certificate of conformity that the system will perform as required.
Technical
What is the minimum fire rating Durasteel achieves?
All Durasteel systems offer a minimum of 4 hours integrity and stability fire rating (E240 system). We also offer systems that offer up to 4 hours of fire insulation in addition to 4 hours integrity and stability (EI240 system).
How thick is the system?
The Durasteel board is 9.5mm thick and the depth of the framework for a standard barrier system is 80mm, therefore the typical minimum thickness is 89.5mm.
Does the system offer fire/thermal insulation?
Yes, we offer fire insulated systems which maintain a maximum rise in surface temperature of 140°C (average) on the non-fire side after a 4 hour fire test.
What if the fire is on the frame side of the single skin system?
The systems are tested and certified for fire attack from both the board-side and frame-side of the system.
Can I use a gypsum/calcium silicate/other board instead?
Yes, if it meets all of your performance and certification requirements.
Can you bend Durasteel?
No, Durasteel boards cannot be bent – however, we can achieve a curved effect by staggering the framework joints.
Can we have penetrations passing through the Durasteel system?
Yes, the systems are fully tested with all types and sizes of penetrations. Penetrations will be sealed and certified as part of the Durasteel system.
Can you design the system to accommodate additional loads/wind loads?
Yes, these will be backed-up with third-party approved structural calculations.
Can the system be used off-shore/in harsh conditions?
Yes, Durasteel has been used for many years in harsh environmental conditions, including off-shore rigs. A stainless steel finish is also available for highly corrosive environments.
What is the design life of the system?
The typical design life of a standard Durasteel system installed in a non-corrosive/internal environment is 40 years.
Certification
What fire tests has Durasteel been tested to?
Durasteel has been tested to international fire test standards including BS476, EN1363-1 & -2, EN1364-1, UL263, ASTM E119, NFPA 251 and ISO22899-1.
What certificates/approvals do Durasteel systems hold?
Durasteel systems are certified by many international certification bodies, including Exova Warrington, Lloyds Register, UL, ULC and FM, in addition to holding many country-specific fire/civil defence department approvals.
